Creative front door decorations
As the main entrance to your home, your front door serves as a welcoming beacon to guests and gives them a sneak peek of what lies beyond. In addition, sprucing up your front door isn’t just about aesthetics but also sets the tone for what visitors can expect once they step inside. If you typically use the garage as your entryway, don’t underestimate the power of a stunning front entrance. It’s a small touch that can make a big impact.
The look of your front door is important, and summer is the perfect time to freshen it up with a new coat of paint before you add any door decorations. Whether you have a single door or double doors, you will want to be sure to find the perfect front door decor ideas for your home.
Unusual front door wreaths
Seasonal wreaths are a typical decoration hanging on many front doors.
The history of the wreath goes back many years. Beyond their decorative purpose, wreaths on the door hold special meaning for some families. Years ago, hanging a wreath was a public statement to the community. In times of mourning, a wreath signifies the loss of a loved one. Today we use the wreath to add a pop of color to the entrance of our home. If you would like to read more about the history of the wreath, click here.
The holiday season is not the only time we should decorate the entrance to our home. Spring and Summer are the perfect times to wash away the winter blues with colorful designs hanging on our front door.
27 unique summer front door decor ideas
1. Vintage basket filled with mushrooms
First, let me share my interpretation of our Pinterest Challenge. I filled a vintage basket with crumbled-up brown paper bags and added some greenery, Spanish moss, two DIY mushrooms, and one moss ball.
Do you remember those moss mushrooms? They sure have come in handy. I’ve decorated the kitchen table, front porch, and now a few live on my front door. As you can see, they add charm wherever they go.
As an experienced decorator, I love embellishing my front door for every season. Scouring through images and brainstorming ideas is right up my alley. And I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite inspirations. Get your pen and paper ready. We’re about to dive into the world of summer front door decor.
2. Wreath with dried hydrangeas and lavender
Flowers are one of my favorites and always very cheerful and welcoming, the perfect way to invite guests into your home. This beautiful wreath by Amy @amysadlerdesigns screams summer. And Amy makes it look so easy by pairing faux hydrangeas with lavender on her grapevine wreath.
3. Add some yarn to your basket for an unexpected touch
I love how my friend Kristy @athomewithkristy wrapped her basket with yarn to give it a unique look. She completed it with fresh lemons, beautiful greenery, and the perfect bow.
See a quick video here on how to make a unique front door wreath with fresh lemons
4. Fresh lemon wreath
Add a pop of citrus to your door with fresh lemons. Start by wiring on some faux greenery. Next, wire on the lemons securely by placing the wire straight through the middle of the lemons. You can see the full tutorial here.
5. Ahoy friends buoys
My friend Diane @southhousedesigns lives on a lake and is welcoming her guests in style with these adorable buoys. AHOY, FRIENDS! I love this idea for a beach or a lake house.

6. A bushel, a basket…
Turn a bushel on its side, place a bird’s nest on a bed of moss, and drape some faux greenery trailing out of the basket with a touch of blue flowers.
7. Dried hydrangea wreath
Dry a few hydrangeas of assorted colors and create a stunning wreath. Add a pop of color with a vibrant bow.
8. Box spring wreath
I am upcycling a few old box springs into a fantastic wreath for a rustic touch this summer. A few clay pots filled with greenery fit perfectly into the box spring. In the center, a DIY bird’s nest adds the perfect summer feel.
9. Garden hose wreath
I adore this wreath from my friend Lora @lorabloomquist. Her creativity knows no bounds. A collection of garden hoses from flea markets and a few vintage garden tools inspired her to create this wreath.
10. Farmhouse wagon wheel wreath
This creative wreath from Gristmill Wreaths is a show stopper. A vintage wagon wheel that has been repurposed into a neutral wreath with the use of eucalyptus and a burlap bow.

11. DIY moss vintage picture frames
This is one of my favorite projects. I purchased old picture frames at the thrift stores and added moss to them to create these beauties. I decided to hang them on the wall of my front porch, but there is no reason why you can’t hang this frame on your front door.
12. Rainbow succulent wreath
I made this wreath several years ago, and it was stunning! Gather an assortment of rainbow-colored succulents and plant them directly into the living wreath.
13. A bicycle rim with succulents
Find yourself an old rusty bicycle rim at the local flea market or garage sale. Then, attach a moss base using a hot glue gun and plant your succulents directly into the moss. (did you know you can hot glue the succulents into the moss, and they will live)
14. Faux succulent wreath
An assortment of faux succulents and greenery attached to an unusual twig wreath makes a stunning statement.
15. Neutral star wreath
I love this neutral star wreath from my friend Rachel @thepondsfarmhouse. This wreath is guaranteed to add some farmhouse charm to your front door.
16. Picture frame wreath with bird’s nest
Regina @savedfromsalvage paired a vintage picture frame with a bird’s nest, green moss, and some greenery for a fresh-looking door decor.
17. Flowerpot wreath
This clay pot wreath is one I designed long before my blogging days, and I still love it. Wire the clay pots onto the wreath and decorate it with faux greenery and moss.
18. Sweet daisy wreath
I adore this sweet wreath from Ann @onsuttonplace. The contrast between Ann’s front door and the wreath makes a simple statement.
19. Straw handbag door decor
This is a fun and creative idea from my friend Missy @sonatahomedesigns. Start with a thrift store straw bag and fill it with colorful summer stems.
20. Flip-flop wreath
Isn’t this the cutest? I need one of these for my pool gate.
21. Eucalyptus and floral wreath
How elegant is this bright pink contrast against the blue door from Karianne @thistlewoodfarms.
22. Wreath alternative- wooden box
I love the creativity from my friend Crystal @sweetvalleyacres. A wooden box replaces the traditional wreath and is filled with delightful flowers.
23. Clay mushroom wreath
Want to add some unique summer front door color?
Mushrooms are a big home decor trend this year, and I love how Anna @skylarkhouse put them on a pink Excelsior wreath.
24. May Day basket
Come May 1st. It is the perfect time to add fresh flowers to a sweet basket to hang on your door. You can use flower vials with water to keep them fresh.
25. Rag wreath
A mixture of a faux green wreath with fabric strips, burlap, and ribbon creates a patriotic feel.
26. Fourth of July Buoys
Jennifer @tattertotsandjello create her version of the buoy decor. Welcoming her guests to a Fourth of July party is the best way to start.
27. Neutral black and white elegant wreath
A few quick changes to my lemon wreath, and I created this neutral wreath. Remove the lemons and add white anemones and a cute bird’s nest.
That about wraps it up for me. I hope you found some inspiration with these front door decor ideas for your Summer door decor.
