What is WM Design House?

Your Home, Made Beautiful, One Project at a Time

WM Design House is a lifestyle and DIY blog for anyone who wants their home to feel warm, creative, and deeply personal. Here you’ll find step-by-step tutorials for decorating, DIY projects, and seasonal crafts; gardening guides from someone who truly lives in her garden; recipes worth gathering around; and a free printables library that grows every month.

Every idea I share has been tried, tested, and photographed right here in my own home,so you know it actually works. Whether you’re styling a seasonal tablescape, planting your first cut flower bed, or finally tackling that half-finished room, I’ll walk you through it like we’re doing it together.

The woman behind the blog

Hi, I’m Wendy

I’ve been a creative type for as long as I can remember. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, where my mother and grandmother would take me foraging in the woods for natural treasures we could bring home and turn into something beautiful. My mother was a floral designer, our house always had fresh-cut flowers and the smell of something warm baking in the oven. That feeling of a home made special by someone who truly cared? That’s what I’ve been chasing ever since.

Her love of homemaking led me to a career in design. For many years I designed handbags and seasonal gift programs for major retailers, travelling the world in search of beautiful, unique things. It gave me a designer’s eye for detail, one I now pour into this home, this garden, and everything I share here.

When my husband David and I first walked into our 1898 house in Southern California, I fell completely in love. From that day on, it has been a true sanctuary for our family, a place to create, celebrate, and come together no matter what’s happening in the outside world. These days I split my time between the garden, my She-Shed studio, and the kitchen. I’m a homemaker through and through, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m so glad you found this little corner of the internet. I hope it inspires you.

A Word About My Husband David…

I have to tell you a secret……… I may make everything look good, but this man makes everything taste good.

David is an extraordinary cook, and since he retired, he has fully taken over the kitchen, and I am very well-fed. We have the most wonderful arrangement: I handle the atmosphere, set the table, and do the decorating. David handles the meal. We’ve been doing life together for over 40 years, raised four children, and now have seven grandchildren who keep us wonderfully busy.

We also love to entertain together. Last summer we created a full pop-up restaurant right in our own backyard, and I think our guests are still talking about it. When David pops up on the blog, expect something delicious, and more than a few laughs.
