A Merry Home Tour with Twinkle Lights and Classic Christmas Decor
I recently shared how I decorated our home with a beautiful blue and white Christmas theme, and now I’m excited to show you how everything looks in the evening.
There’s something magical about the cozy glow of twinkle lights that makes everything feel so warm and inviting. I’m thrilled to share how our home sparkles with classic Christmas decor during this special season.
Discover the Warmth of Classic Christmas Decor in Our Home
This year, I’ve styled our home with classic Christmas decoration that feels warm, inviting, and perfect for our traditional Southern California home. From the sparkle of lights on our blue and white Christmas tree to nostalgic touches like DIY mercury glass ornaments, I can’t wait to walk you through each room.
So, grab your favorite holiday drink, get comfy, and join me for a cozy home tour filled with the charm of twinkling lights!
The Front Porch: A Warm Welcome with Classic Christmas Style
The first thing you’ll notice on our front porch is the full-size flocked tree I decorated. It’s a showstopper, decorated with a combination of new DIY vintage clock-face ornaments I created and coordinating gold accents, including elegant DIY gold leaf ornaments.
To pull it all together, I added a beautiful bow for the topper and wove matching ribbon throughout the tree. The soft, cozy glow of the lights creates such a warm and inviting welcome for anyone visiting our home this season.
One of my favorite things about this tree is the beautiful DIY porch time banner I made to wrap around it. To create it, I used the same process as my Merry Christmas banner, painting the letters gold to complement the elegant and neutral Christmas color scheme of the tree.
On the other side of the door, a pair of smaller flocked trees stand tall, nestled inside an old wooden wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow is filled with a mix of unique vintage treasures I’ve collected over the year, creating a charming and balanced display. It’s such a fun way to showcase these pieces.
Then, to finish our porch, I created a new DIY winter wreath. I used a bit of greenery and leftover clock faces from my DIY vintage ornaments. Finally, I used some blue velvet ribbon to hang the wreath on our door. It ties everything together beautifully and is the perfect piece to transition from Christmas to a cozy winter look for the months ahead.
The Rustic Outdoor Patio: A Festive Evening with Candlelight
We’re so lucky to entertain outdoors almost year-round here in Southern California. And Christmastime is no exception! Our backyard, with my She-Shed is the perfect backdrop for a cozy outdoor Christmas tablescape that feels both welcoming and elegant.
For a festive touch, I decorated a DIY candle chandelier with fresh greenery. I used a mix of foraged cedar, pine, and magnolia leaves, making it completely free! The chandelier’s warm glow creates a beautiful, cozy atmosphere, perfect for holiday gatherings.
For the table’s Christmas centerpiece, I kept the decor classic with a collection of brass candlesticks mixed in among fresh greenery and magnolia leaves. The timeless combination creates a beautiful centerpiece. If you prefer a more rustic look, you create a DIY candle holder out of birch tree branches to add a bit of woodland charm.
The Family Room: Cozy and Classic Christmas Charm
Our family room is one of my favorite places to decorate for the holidays. Since we recently updated it with a new rug and furniture, I decorated the Christmas tree and fireplace mantel to match the new look.
This space feels so cozy and festive, don’t you think? It’s the perfect spot to gather during the holiday season or have a fun Christmas pajama party with our six grandbabies!
On the ottoman, I placed a large wooden tray to create a simple Christmas vignette. I added sisal trees in vintage silver teapots and creamers, a bit of greenery, and silver mercury glass ornaments tied with blue velvet ribbon.
It’s an easy look to put together and perfect for decorating your coffee table for Christmas!
To keep with the classic Christmas decor theme, I decorated the mantle with a beautiful evergreen garland. Then I added some white floral picks, glittered branches, a few neutral ornaments, and, of course, lots of bright twinkle lights!
Then, to finish our mantel, I hung our stockings complete with monogrammed tags.
On the shelves in our hutch, I embraced classic Christmas decor by using a mix of textures and materials.
I also made a blue and white rag tree using scraps of leftover fabric and grouped blue ornaments in a white bowl. To finish, I added a bit of greenery and a white pip berry garland. And, you guessed it, more twinkle lights for a simple, cozy touch.
A Christmas Tree Styled with Classic Decor
I can’t forget about our tree—it’s one of my favorite views!
Instead of a traditional tree skirt, I used a box my husband and I made from vintage barn wood as a unique tree stand. The blue and white paint on the box perfectly complements my Christmas theme.
To trim the tree, I used mostly white ornaments, adding a few blue and silver ones I made to match. I even spray-painted some old silver and red jingle bells gold to tie into the look.
Then, to finish, I decorated the tree with holiday florals, including white felt poinsettias, blueberries, blue eucalyptus, and glittery silver eucalyptus.
The Living Room: Timeless Elegance Meets Christmas Magic
Moving on to the living room, I chose a simple and elegant look this year. Sometimes less is more, don’t you agree?
Much like the family room mantel, I used garland and florals to decorate the living room fireplace. Dried pampas grass and magnolia flowers add texture and contrast to the garland. Meanwhile, blue and white stockings complete the simple and elegant look.
On the coffee table, I started with a few vintage books and added a winter flower arrangement to create a pretty holiday scene.
For the small tree, I kept things cohesive by using the same blue and white color scheme. To add a unique touch, I placed the tree in a large wooden box. Then, I decorated it with simple blue and white ornaments and tied on small blue velvet bows.
Meanwhile, on the side buffet, I used dried pine cones and greenery for a natural look. Of course, I couldn’t leave out my favorite blue and white chinoiserie ginger jars!
The Kitchen: Festive Accents and Warm Holiday Glow
As we near the end of the tour, I can’t wait to show you our festive kitchen! I love baking during Christmas, so I decided to do something a bit different in the kitchen by decorating with classic gingerbread theme decor.
Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few apothecary jars, and I love using them to decorate in the kitchen. To start, I filled several jars with dried orange slices, star anise, and pinecones. These natural elements are perfect for creating a beautiful display and also work great for scented wax sachets or simmer pots!
After that, I added a small tree on the counter. A few years ago, I made DIY air-dry clay gingerbread ornaments. They’re perfect for my small kitchen tree and tie in with the gingerbread theme. I even created a printable gingerbread house ornament that you can download and make at home!
