Spring Mantel Ideas: Decorating your home
Spring mantel ideas have been dancing in my head for a few weeks now.
I waited for days to get warmer and for the buds to blossom on the trees. However, we were deluged with rain, but I did not let that stop me.
This week I am joining some of my blogging friends for the 2023 Bloggers’ Best Spring Home Tours hosted by my friend Kelly @thetatteredpew. Thirty talented and creative women will open their homes for you to tour all week. You can visit each Spring home tour by clicking the links at the end of this post…
If you have come over from my friend Stacy’s blog @bricksandblooms, welcome! Stacy has a beautiful vintage home and garden; I am sure you enjoyed her tour.
It is so refreshing to change out seasonal decor and introduce new colors, and the arrival of spring is one of my favorite times of the year.
Updating your mantel display is a great way to give your home a seasonal refresh. Mantels are a natural focal point of a room and the perfect place to decorate for the spring season. Whether you prefer bright colors or neutrals, Easter decor, or a simple spring wreath, there are many fresh ideas for decorating your spring mantel.
Before we start, let me share a few tips to help make your mantel decorating easier.
Spring Mantel Decorating Tips:
- Think about your color palette and how your mantel decor will coordinate with the rest of your space.
- Identify a style for your mantel decor. Examples include simple, rustic, elegant, or farmhouse.
- Start with a big piece of decor as the focal point, such as a piece of art, mirror, or fresh floral arrangement. Then, add smaller pieces around it.
- Use spring greenery as a natural backdrop. Then, add neutrals and pops of spring colors to reflect the season.
- Use fresh flowers where you can. There is no better way to bring the delight of spring into your home!
Spring Mantel Ideas in the Family Room
If you can’t enjoy the garden outside yet, why not bring the garden into the house?
One of my favorite spring mantel decor ideas is in the family room. I brought natural materials, neutral colors, and colorful fresh flowers to create this spring fireplace mantel.
My custom garden sign is a statement piece that is the perfect backdrop.
I placed a 6″ wide wooden fence board on the mantel to create a base for my floral display. I then hot-glued four floral foam blocks onto the top of the flat fence board. Next, I covered the blocks with moss using a hot glue gun.
I filled my mantel with salix, ferns, and other greenery, then added several clay flowerpots, fresh spring flowers, and a rustic birdhouse. You can place your flowers in water vials or vases to keep them fresh.
Add other decorations like Easter eggs, bunnies, or bird nests. This fresh spring mantel idea will work well with many different styles of homes. Whether looking for a rustic spring mantel or a vintage farmhouse look, you can’t go wrong with a garden theme.
I carried out the same theme in front of my fireplace as well. If you recall, I had my Christmas tree in this wheel barrel last year.
This piece is so charming, and it is easy to change the decor for the season.

Spring in the Living Room
Our beautiful living room features blue and white decor and an original 1898 Batchelder fireplace.
This color scheme is perfect for adding spring colors to our regular decor. I love this pop of bright yellow with blue and white. Use throw pillows, table decor, and floral arrangements to add color and refresh any space for the season.
Spring Mantel Ideas in the Living Room
I used simple decor this year in the living room.
A collection of blue and white vintage ginger jars and vases show off the yellow and white spring floral arrangement beautifully.
Another look uses my collection of white ironstone in different heights and shapes, adding a pop of color from the fresh pink tulips. This easy spring mantel is the perfect way to display spring in our living room.

Springtime in the Dining Room
While we don’t have a mantel in the dining room, that didn’t stop me from adding spring decor to my dining table. Let’s take a closer look!
I used a variety of containers and vases in a color palette of pink and white with a touch of greenery to display these Dogwood blossoms on my table.
In addition, I mixed in a few smaller pieces of spring decor. Many of these are DIY projects I have made over the years.
See details on how I styled this Easter place setting, including how to up-style a basic charger and make these adorable bunny ear napkin rings and pink foil pear name cards.
Spring Mantel Ideas in the Kitchen
Beautiful spring mantels are not just for fireplaces! I have a hood over my stove with a mantel-like space on the top to decorate. Adding a splash of color to this space always brightens the room.
Some pretty pink tulips (in floral vials), faux greenery, and this cute brown rabbit add the perfect touch of color against the white cabinets.
I carried out my spring decor on the kitchen countertops using my DIY botanical flowerpots and bright spring flowers.
A tall white ironstone pitcher filled with Silax branches completes the look.
I try to keep the island decor simple, as this tends to be where we do most of our food prep.
Using a wood tray helps to contain the decor and makes it easy to move when needed.
Can you guess which of these images is my granddaughter’s favorite?
Yup, who does not love Jordan almonds and jelly beans?
Displaying candy in vintage jars adds to the decor and is inexpensive to create seasonal change in the kitchen. You can read all about my infamous trick to fill the jars here. It will save you tons of money, I promise. However, I can’t guarantee you will keep your hands out of the jars.
Other Simple Ideas For Decorating A Spring Mantel:
Lastly, Here are a few other items you can use on your spring mantel this year.
- A faux or fresh spring garland
- Old window frames
- A spring wreath
- Chunky candlesticks
- Candle holders of all kinds mix and match different shapes and sizes.
- White candles add a fresh look for Spring.
- Stack of books
- Fresh cherry blossoms
Thanks for joining me on my spring home tour. I hope you found inspiration in these spring mantel ideas you can use in your home. Decorating a mantel for spring is an easy way to refresh your space.
