Why Decorate Your She Shed for Fall?
I love the change of seasons—it always gives me the perfect excuse to bring out the pumpkins! There’s just something about fall decorating that makes everything feel cozy and inviting. If you’ve been looking for unique she shed decorating ideas for fall, or you simply enjoy admiring seasonal décor, you’re in the right place.
I use my she shed as a creative studio for so many of my DIY projects, and it’s a space that’s constantly evolving. That’s part of the fun—it reflects whatever season or project I’m working on.
Your she shed isn’t just for gardening tools or crafting supplies—it’s truly an extension of your home. Decorating it for autumn adds warmth and charm to your outdoor spaces, turning it into a welcoming retreat. Whether your style leans rustic, vintage, or cottage-inspired, fall is the ideal time to layer in texture, color, and natural elements.
Thrifted Watering Cans: The Star of the Show
Last year, I decorated my she shed for spring with baskets,As much as I loved it they didn’t hold up well against the elements. So this fall, I wanted to use something more durable for the outdoors.

She Shed Decor Exterior
I decided to repurpose a collection of my favorite thrifted watering cans to add both character and charm. Each one has its own story, and together they create a vintage vibe that feels both fitting and decorative.

You can style them climbing up the wall like I did, or cluster them together by the door for a welcoming fall display.

You can hunt for watering cans at estate sales, flea markets, or your favorite thrift shop.
Mix different shapes, sizes, and patinas to bring depth and visual interest.

DIY: How to Hang Watering Cans on Your She Shed
Once you’ve gathered all your supplies, it’s time to hang your watering cans and start decorating for the season. The best part? You can leave the cans up year-round and simply swap out the arrangements to match each season—fresh blooms in spring, greenery in summer, dried foliage in fall, and even festive touches for the holidays.
Step 1: Hanging the Chicken Wire
I purchased chicken wire that was already 12 inches wide, so there was no need to cut it down to size—this makes the project much easier.
- Measure and Cut
- Cut a length of chicken wire long enough to run down the side of your shed where you’d like to hang your watering cans.
- Position the Wire
- Hold the chicken wire in place against the shed wall, keeping it straight and flush.
- Secure with Staples
- Using a staple gun, attach the wire firmly to the shed, starting at the top and working your way down. Add extra staples along the edges to make sure it’s secure and can hold the weight of your watering cans.

Step 2: Attach the Watering Cans
I used two methods to secure my watering cans. First, I placed an adhesive hook on the back of each can. Then, I hung the hook onto the chicken wire. For extra stability, I finished by fastening a zip tie around the handle of the can and the chicken wire to keep everything securely in place.

Tip from wendy’s craft room:
Hang your watering cans at varying heights and angles to create movement and visual interest. The mix of directions adds charm and makes the display feel more dynamic and natural.
Step 3: Decorating with Fall Foliage
Start with a Base
- Tuck Spanish moss into the chicken wire to cover and soften the structure.
Add Height and Texture
- Insert sprigs of fresh curly willow and dried eucalyptus for natural movement and shape.
Layer Seasonal Color
- Add preserved fall leaves and dried eucalyptus to bring in warm autumn tones.
Finish with Details
- Tuck in clusters of faux berries and a few pinecones to complete the arrangement with rustic charm.
Tip from wendy’s craft room:
Forage for sturdy fall branches or reuse old silk stems—both can handle outdoor weather, and you won’t mind if they get a little worn over time.

Cozy Autumn Touches on a Budget
The beauty of fall she shed decorating ideas is that they don’t have to cost a fortune. By using thrifted finds and what you already have in the garden or shed, you can style a unique seasonal look that feels warm and inviting. A fall dried flower arrangement from foraged flowers that cost nothing, a small lantern by the door, or a rustic foraged wreath on the shed wall can tie the whole look together.

Tip from wendy’s craft room:
Used foraged grasses, pods and leaves to decorate a rustic fall wreath.
She Shed Interior Ideas
While the exterior sets the tone, the inside of your she shed deserves some autumn love, too! This little retreat should feel cozy and inspiring—a space where you can sip tea, craft, or simply relax and enjoy the season.
Cozy Textiles
Drape a plaid throw or a chunky knit blanket over your favorite chair to instantly warm up the space. Then layer in a few soft pillows in rich fall shades—think rust, mustard, or deep green—for that extra touch of seasonal comfort.

Warm Lighting
Tuck a little lamp or drape fairy lights around a window or shelf to give your she shed a soft, welcoming glow. Add a lantern or two with battery candles for effortless charm. And honestly—nothing feels cozier than a few strands of twinkling market lights!

Seasonal Accents
Fill a little basket or a galvanized bucket with dried gourds, pinecones, or even a few faded hydrangeas for that perfect touch of fall texture. Tuck a pumpkin into a simple terra cotta pot for instant charm. And don’t forget the shelves—an assortment of mini pumpkins styled together always brings in a dose of seasonal cheer.

Personal Touches
Display a mix of thrifted treasures, weathered books, and rusty baskets filled with DIY rope pumpkins. A rustic bird figurine adds just the right amount of charm—reminding us that it’s those small, thoughtful details that turn the shed into your own cozy autumn escape.
