Easy and Adorable Valentines Tiered Tray Decor Ideas

Do you add Valentine’s Day decor to your home?

I love Valentine’s Day, but I have to admit that I only add a few touches here and there.

Usually, by the time February rolls around, I have just put away the last of my Christmas decor. After all the holiday fanfare and lugging all of my Christmas decor totes out to the garage, I love a clean slate.

I am not ready to clutter things up too much, so Valentine’s tiered tray decor feels like the perfect compromise. They don’t take up much space, and tiered trays can easily be changed out from season to season.

It is a simple way to add a little seasonal decor without going all out, and a sweet way to show my family some extra love.

Here is how I styled my Valentine’s tiered trays, using a mix of decor and a few festive sweet treats!

How To Decorate a Tiered Tray for Valentine’s Day

Before we get into the steps, keep in mind that this is meant to be fun! Adjust as you go and do what feels right to you. There is no right or wrong way to style a tiered tray.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin, gather all of your supplies. You can find affordable Valentine’s decor options at most craft stores, including Hobby Lobby or Michaels. And the Dollar Store usually has a cute seasonal craft section.

To style my trays, I used a collection of fun Valentine’s Day decorations from home, including several DIY projects I have made over the years

Speaking of trays, I was gifted this sweet two-heart tiered tray from Ilerwoods! It is adorable and perfect for Valentine’s Day.

If you are looking for some tiered trays, Amazon has a large selection as well as many online home decor retailers.

Step 2: Start with the Larger Pieces

After you have all your decor, begin by placing the larger items on each level of your tray. These pieces help set the overall look and give you something to build around.

Two wooden tiered trays, perfect for valentines tiered tray decor, feature a heart-shaped two-level design with a white base and a round three-level style. They sit on a polished wooden kitchen counter with white cabinets in the background.

I decided to style two trays and placed a white wooden heart dough bowl underneath my heart-shaped tray to give it just a bit of added height.

Then I placed a large wooden heart that I covered with old sheet music and some ribbon trim on the top tier of my round tray.

Tip from wendy’s craft room:

Place larger items toward the back so smaller pieces can be seen in front. If your tiered tray is visible from more than one side, be sure to decorate all sides evenly.

Step 3: Fill in with Medium Sized Decor

Once the bigger pieces are in place, start filling in with medium-sized items like small signs, bowls, or candles. This is where your tray starts to take shape.

Here you can see that I added a pink candle on the top tier of the round tray and a white heart embossed canister on the bottom tier.

Step 4: Add the Smaller Details

Once you are done adding the medium-sized decorations, use smaller items to fill in any gaps. Things like tiny hearts, vintage postcards, or small accents bring everything together.

I placed a pink candle and a mini heart in front of the sheet music heart.

Then I tucked some vintage Valentine’s cards into a styrofoam base and covered it with moss.

I added a few pink stuffed hearts and A DIY crown with flowing ribbons hanging down in the front of the tray.

Lastly, I placed a stack of pink heart-shaped plates at the base of the tray with a few vintage valentines.

Step 5: Step Back and Adjust

When you are done, take a step back and look at the tray as a whole. I usually move things around a few times, shifting pieces between levels until it feels balanced.

How to Fill a Tiered Tray with Valentine’s Day Treats

Load up your heart-shaped tray with tempting treats: Rice Krispie treats, fresh cherries, chocolate cupcakes, and buttery shortbread cookies for the family to enjoy.

I topped it off with bowls of Valentine’s candy for that extra sweet touch.
