Setting the Scene: Why Lemons are Perfect for Summer Tablescapes
If you didn’t already know, I have a bit of a love affair with lemons. Whether they’re real or faux lemons, I adore them both and use them often in my home decor and craft projects.
Here in Southern California, we’re lucky to enjoy easy access to fresh lemons whenever we want. And thanks to our mild weather, we can entertain outdoors year-round, making it easy to incorporate lemon decor into our celebrations.
The bright yellow color of lemons is so cheerful and perfect for this time of year. They add a wonderful pop of color and remind me of the warm sun, making them a great choice for creating a summery table setting!
How to Create a Summer Lemon Themed Tablescape
When setting a simple tablescape, the first thing I usually do is lay down a white tablecloth. But for this lemon-inspired tablescape, I let the wood from our rustic farmhouse dining table shine through.
Instead of a tablecloth, I laid down a white puckered table runner that extends the full length of the table. I love how it adds a fun layer of texture to my summer lemon tablescape.
Since I like to use affordable decor in my tablescapes, I created some beautiful blue plaid paper placemats that are part of my FREE dinner party printables. (More on those in just a bit.)
Not only are they perfect for summer time, but these placemats would work well for a variety of other tablescape ideas.
Round rattan chargers and large white stoneware plates build on the layered look of the place setting.
Next, I added some classic white dishes featuring a beautiful lemon motif. I bought the whole set, including salad plates and bowls. They are so much fun and perfectly complete the rest of the summer lemon tablescape decor.
To finish the place settings, I set out beautiful dark blue drinking glasses along with some unique rustic copper handled silverware.
Then I then placed linen napkins with a pretty blue block print pattern on top of each plate.
I wrapped the napkins with my DIY printable lemon napkin rings. They are so adorable and simple to print your own at home!
All my printables are conveniently located in my resource library. They are completely free for subscribers!

Beautiful DIY Lemon Centerpiece
Pretty centerpieces can be budget-friendly and a breeze to create! This DIY lemon centerpiece is so easy to make and only took me a few minutes to put together.
I used real lemons, some greenery and a vintage silver urn to create a one-of-a-kind arrangement for my summer lemon tablescape.
I also grabbed some cheerful daisy plants from the grocery store. After I got home, I planted them in a few of my DIY aged terra cotta pots and placed one on each side of the urn.
The bright yellow centers of the daisies really tie in with the whole table, don’t you think? They are the perfect accent for my lemon-themed place setting.
To add extra pops of color, I sprinkled more lemons and lemon slices down the center of the table. And, to finish the look, I tucked in some seeded eucalyptus to match the greenery in my centerpiece.

Lighting is always a great way to add to ambiance to your summer party!
We created these DIY outdoor lampshades by hanging some garden baskets upside down on a strand of outdoor market lights.
You can also add tea lights, lanterns, or citronella candles to the table for extra lighting —and to help keep bugs away!
Our DIY lighted garden orbs also create a warm glow after the sun sets.
