Elegant Blue and White Christmas Decor
Recently, we painted the exterior of our home Blue Note from Benjamin Moore, and I love it. I have had blue and white on my interior for some time but have not taken the blue to the exterior. This journey of embracing a cohesive color palette has only deepened my appreciation for the classic and timeless blue color scheme. I wanted a change for the holidays this year and decided to stick with what I love for the holiday season. This post will explore the timeless beauty of blue and white Christmas decor, inspiring me to create a serene and sophisticated holiday atmosphere that reflects a refined and personal aesthetic along with my everyday decor.
The Allure of Blue and White
Blue, often associated with the vastness of the sky and the tranquility of the ocean, is a color widely recognized for its calming and peaceful properties. It’s frequently used in relaxing environments like spas and bedrooms due to its soothing nature.
Psychologically, blue has been linked to reduced heart rate and blood pressure, promoting a sense of serenity and stress reduction. It can also inspire feelings of trust and security, making it a popular choice for corporate branding and design.
Pairing blue with white is a timeless classic that exudes elegance and sophistication. Why not incorporate this color combination into your home for some serene Christmas decor?
Incorporating Blue and White into Your Christmas Decor
Christmas is my favorite time of year to unleash creativity. I usually have a clear theme in mind for my trees well before the season starts, but I found myself needing some help this year. While I knew I wanted to stick with a blue Christmas theme, I couldn’t pinpoint the specific direction.
I decided to dig through my Christmas bins in the attic to see what treasures I could uncover. In addition, I was thrilled to receive a beautiful white Christmas tree from King of Christmas, which I knew would be perfect for a flocked tree on the porch.
I’m excited to share the results of my creative endeavors. Join me on a tour of my holiday home, and let me know what you think!
Family Room Blue and White Christmas Decor
I recently updated the family room with a new rug and furniture, so I wanted to ensure the Christmas tree and mantel complimented the new look.
Christmas Tree:
- Ribbon: I created two large bows using blue ribbon and white ribbon with gold trim, placing them at the top of the tree. I left long tails on the bows to tuck into the tree for added elegance and enhance the contrast against the flocked tree. Using the same blue ribbon, I added a few simple blue bows throughout the tree to my elegant theme.
Ornaments:
- I used an assortment of ornaments, primarily white Christmas ornaments, with some blue and silver ornaments that I made, to match my white tree. I also found a few giant jingle bells in my Christmas bins, but they were silver and red and did not work with my white decor, so I got out the spray paint and turned them into gold ornaments.
Floral picks:
- I adorned the tree with various shades of white felt poinsettias, blueberries, blue eucalyptus, and silver glittery eucalyptus.
Tree Topper:
- To create a stunning focal point at the top of the tree, I opted for a spray of berries, pinecones, and glittery branches. I love mixing natural elements with a touch of glitz.
Tree Skirt:
Instead of a traditional tree skirt, I opted for a box that we made out of vintage wood taken from an old barn. I love that the box still has blue and white paint, and it goes with my Christmas color palette.
Family Room Fire Place Mantle:
- Keeping with the blue Christmas decor ideas, I placed an evergreen garland on the mantle and added several white floral picks, white glittered branches, a few neutral ornaments, and many bright twinkling lights. Lastly, I added our white stockings for a fresh look.
Coffee Table Christmas Decor:
- To maintain a cohesive look, I used sisal trees in vintage containers, added some greenery, and finished the arrangement with silver mercury glass ornaments tied with blue velvet ribbon.
Shelf Styling for Christmas:
- Embrace the full spectrum of blue tones throughout your decor. Take inspiration from this adorable rag tree I made using leftover fabrics in various shades of blue. It’s a charming way to incorporate different textures and showcase your creativity. For a simpler option, group a few blue ornaments in an elegant white bowl. Top any of these arrangements with twinkling lights and a touch of greenery for a finished look that adds whimsy and sparkle to your holiday décor on the shelves.
Living Room- Simple And Elegant Christmas Decor
Simple and elegant was my choice for the living room tree this year. Sometimes, less is more.
Living Room Christmas Tree
Ribbon:
- A simple blue velvet ribbon tied in small bows was perfect for this gorgeous King Noble tree by King of Christmas. A large bow would have felt a bit overwhelming on this tree.
Ornaments:
- I chose traditional glass blue ornaments as the focal point for the green tree and complemented them with white Christmas decorations. I also added a few snowflake ornaments for a touch of winter magic.
Floral picks:
- To further enhance the blue Christmas theme, I added a few simple sprigs of blueberries to some branches and the top of the tree.
Tree Skirt:
- I painted the tree box white to maintain the white color scheme. I’ve used these boxes in the past, but this is the first time I’ve painted them.
Living Room Fire Place Mantel Garland:
- I adorned the mantel with a simple green garland and added a touch of elegance with various shades of my favorite color palette. The festive look was completed with a beautiful ribbon bow, faux white flowers, and custom blue and white stockings.
My Living Room Christmas Coffee Table Decor
- My favorite way to add blue Christmas decorations is by using ginger jars. These beautiful containers, available in various sizes and shades of blue, add a touch of elegance to any space. I simply fill them with greenery, pinecones, and glittered magnolias for a stunning Christmas arrangement on the coffee table.
Blue and White Christmas Decor in the Dining Room
- Following our blue and white theme, I’ve added a few touches to the dining room table place setting for our Christmas dinner.
Christmas Table Setting
Place Setting:
- Starting with a gold charger, I layered a gold and white dinner plate topped with a vintage blue floral salad plate. To complete the look, I added vintage blue glasses and gold silverware.
Christmas Centerpiece:
- This stunning vintage buck takes center stage on my Christmas table. A few sprigs of fresh greenery, candles, and DIY blue ornaments complete the simple yet elegant table setting.
Chair Decor:
- Add small wreaths with a simple ribbon for elegant Christmas decor.
Buffet Decor:
- My buffet is typically stacked with old books and vintage treasures. This year I added an artificial tree to an old oil lamp base for a little something different.
