Sunday Sharing from the Silos
It’s the weekend, which provides the perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy some relaxation. Currently, we’re in Chicago, paying a visit to our youngest son and his family.
Earlier in the week, we were in Texas, spending time with our eldest son and his family. During that trip, I also took a few days to attend the Achieve Blogging Conference in Waco.
Have you ever had the chance to explore Waco, the hometown of Chip and Joanna Gaines and the renowned Magnolia Market? If not, I highly recommend adding it to your bucket list. This charming little town is steeped in history and boasts delightful homes, making it a must-visit destination.
During our visit to Austin to see our son, we had the joy of spending time with our adorable granddaughters, Gabby and Lulu, aged 2 and 6 months. Gabby developed a fondness for my curlers, and playing with her was an absolute delight.
I also made a point to revisit my favorite oak tree and collected some giant acorns.
This is called a Bur Oak Tree, and they are indigenous to Texas.
The bur oak, often referred to as the prairie oak (Quercus macrocarpa), is distinguished by its enormous leaves and massive acorns.
Do you recall what happened last year when I brought them home and left the bag outside, only for the squirrels to feast on them?
I was quite disheartened by the outcome. Rest assured, I’m taking extra precautions this year, and those acorns won’t fall victim to the squirrels again. I’ve already discovered the most charming Christmas decoration idea using them.
Achieve Conference
It is always great to reconnect with my blogging friends in person. We get together once or twice a year and learn what is new in the blogging world.
We always come home with so much knowledge and information that it makes our heads spin.
And I also love making new friends! Do you recognize my new friend Jill? She has lots of tips and tricks for organizing and cleaning! Be sure to pop over to Instagram to pay her a visit @jillcomesclean.
Did you know my friend KariAnne @thistlewoodfarm just wrote a new book?
10 Minute decorating ideas! Seriously, it is the cutest book and in my favorite colors.
You must get your copy today before she sells out.

My goodness, you have been so busy Wendy! Your granddaughters are the cutest! I am loving the hair curlers, they will treasure their time spent with you when they grow older. I cannot wait to see what you come up with for those fabulous acorns! I am curious, what do you like most about the silos? BTW, your pillow is stunning, and looks like something right out of a high end shop! Have a wonderful week my friend.
Hi Cara, it feels so good to be home again, even though I miss those sweet little ones.
The Shops are beautiful at the Silos as well as the general atmosphere. They have excellent food trucks that you
can eat at a lovely grass area to relax and enjoy.
I also enjoy a shop around the corner called the Findery. Now, I fell under the gun to get Christmas going.
How are you doing? Are you enjoying the cooler weather? I sure am.
It sounds like you had a lovely time at Achieve and doing a little shopping too. I cannot wait for you to call me and tell me all about it. I cannot believe the size of those acorns. I have never seen them before. I have to admit the best photos on your post were of the grand littles. Oh my word, they are adorable.
Thank you, Tammy, I am finally home. Felt like I was gone for a long time. I sure miss those little ones, but I am thrilled to be home.
Your grands are so cute! Looking forward to your Christmas project with those foraged acorns! Thanks so much for sharing my mum pumpkin planter! Safe travels, friend!!
Thank you, Kim. I sure had a great time with the girls. I cannot wait to share my Christmas project with you. I have been baking those acorns to kill the bugs, LOL they made it all the way home.
Wendy, it sounds like you had a wonderful trip!
Your granddaughters are adorable!
Love KariAnnes’ new book, she is the sweetest.
