Planning a Little Pumpkin Baby Shower for a Girl
When a friend and I started planning this sweet little pumpkin baby shower, we took our inspiration straight from the invitation.
With a soft watercolor pumpkin, a pretty blush bow, and the words “a sweet little pumpkin is on her way,” it gave us the perfect starting point for all of the shower decorations.
Since we were celebrating a baby girl, I skipped the traditional fall colors and chose a softer palette of blush pink, cream, gold, and eucalyptus green.
From the hand-painted pumpkins and floral arrangements to the tiniest details at each place setting, I carried those colors throughout the entire party.
Today I’m sharing all of the details from this sweet little pumpkin baby shower, along with plenty of ideas you can use to plan your own fall celebration.
Sweet Little Pumpkin Baby Shower Decorations
One of my favorite things about a little pumpkin theme is how easy it is to make it your own.
For this shower, I wanted the decorations to feel feminine and soft, so I traded traditional orange pumpkins for shades of blush pink and creamy white.
Touches of gold added a little sparkle, while plenty of silver dollar eucalyptus and fresh flowers added a bit of natural color and texture.
The shower was held at Foothill in Pasadena on a warm November afternoon. The calendar said late fall, but in true Southern California fashion, the weather said patio season!
Since we were decorating a restaurant, I worked with the space instead of trying to completely change it. The deep navy walls and black-and-white checkerboard floor made a beautiful backdrop for all the blush-and-white baby shower decor.
Pink and White Pumpkin Baby Shower Decor
Of course, pumpkins were the star of the show!
I used a mix of blush pink and creamy white pumpkins in different shapes and sizes throughout the shower. They were tucked into the eucalyptus down the center of the table, mixed in with the floral arrangements, and used throughout the rest of the space to tie everything together.
And since finding pumpkins in just the right shades of pink isn’t always easy, I decided to paint my own.
How to Paint Pink Pumpkins for a Baby Shower
Every pink pumpkin you see started as a plain craft pumpkin. Painting them myself meant I could choose the softer shades of blush I wanted and use more than one color to give the group some depth.
- Clean the pumpkins. Wipe each pumpkin down and let it dry completely. Craft pumpkins can collect a surprising amount of dust, and you want a clean surface before you start painting.
- Spray in light coats. Hold the spray paint about ten inches away and apply two thin coats rather than one heavy coat. Too much paint at once can pool in the ribs of the pumpkin.
- Mix your pinks. I used two shades of blush pink so the pumpkins had some variation when grouped together
- .Use a satin finish. Glossy paint can reflect overhead lights and create glare in photos, so I prefer a satin finish.
- Paint the stems gold. I brushed gold paint onto each stem by hand, leaving some of the natural texture visible.
And then there were the baby pumpkins!
I used three white craft pumpkins in different sizes and gave each one a pair of dramatic false eyelashes and a pacifier. A blush pink ribbon tied around the stem was the finishing touch.
I grouped all three together on the dessert table, and they ended up being one of my favorite decorations from the shower.
If you want to recreate these, choose eyelashes that are a little more dramatic than you might normally use. Subtle lashes can easily disappear against the pumpkins, especially from across the room.
You could also easily change the colors for a little pumpkin baby shower for a boy or a gender-neutral celebration. Simply change the ribbon and pumpkin colors to coordinate with the rest of your shower decor.
Little Pumpkin Baby Shower Table Decorations
Since the restaurant had a beautiful long wood table, I decided not to cover it with a tablecloth.
Instead, I laid silver dollar eucalyptus directly down the center of the table and nestled the pink and white pumpkins into the greenery.
I alternated different sizes and colors of pumpkins and tucked smaller white pumpkins into any open spaces to create a full centerpiece that ran the length of the table.

Pumpkin Floral Centerpieces
Fresh flowers are almost always part of my tablescapes, and this baby shower was no exception.
For the centerpieces, I filled several large white pumpkin vases with a beautiful mix of blush roses, pink gerbera daisies, ranunculus, stock, and chamomile daisies.
The flowers brought more of the pink color into the center of the table and looked so pretty surrounded by the smaller pumpkins and eucalyptus.
I also love that the white pumpkin itself isn’t cut, so you can continue using it as part of your fall decor after the shower.

When decorating a table for a baby shower, keep conversation in mind. Arrange your decorations so guests can easily see and talk to one another across the table.
Little Pumpkin Place Settings
I continued the pumpkin theme right down to each individual place setting.
Each setting started with my handmade burlap pumpkin placemats and layered the dishes on top. I originally came up with them while planning a fall baby shower for my daughter-in-law, as we used the same sweet pumpkin theme, so setting them out for this one felt like a full-circle moment.

Each place setting also included a menu card, a blush frayed-edge linen napkin, and a mini white pumpkin tied with pink baker’s twine and a small “Welcome Little Pumpkin” tag.
The mini pumpkins did triple duty as a place marker, decoration, and take-home favor, which is exactly the kind of efficiency I look for when I am setting twenty places.
Little Pumpkin Baby Shower Dessert Table Ideas
Of course, the table wasn’t the only place we added some sweet little pumpkin details.
Along one wall of the room, I decorated a wood console to create a special spot for the cake, cookies, and other baby shower decor.
I draped blush cheesecloth down the table and tucked eucalyptus underneath it, then used the baby face pumpkins on one end to help anchor the display.
It was a simple way to carry the same colors and decorations from the dining table to another part of the room.
Pumpkin Baby Shower Cake
The baby shower cake was simple and so pretty.
It had white buttercream with soft horizontal ridges and was topped with a cluster of small fondant pumpkins in the same blush and cream colors we used throughout the shower.
I displayed the cake on a blush pedestal stand and tucked a little eucalyptus around the base to tie it in with the rest of the baby shower decorations.
Pink Pumpkin Cookie Favors
Pumpkin-shaped sugar cookies made the perfect favors for this little pumpkin baby shower.
Each cookie was decorated in blush pink with a sage green stem, then individually wrapped in cellophane and finished with a wide pink ribbon.
We placed a cookie at each setting and displayed the extras on the dessert table.
Entertaining Tip from Wendy:
If you are wrapping individual favors for a shower, do as much as you can the day before. Even simple details like tying ribbons can take longer than you expect when you are making enough for every guest.

A Vintage Bassinet for Baby Shower Gifts
Instead of setting up a traditional gift table, we used a vintage rattan bassinet to hold the baby shower gifts.
As guests arrived, their packages went right into the bassinet, making the gift display feel like part of the party decorations.
If you have a vintage bassinet tucked away or can borrow one from a friend or family member, this is such a creative alternative to a basic gift table.
Baby Shower Games
We kept the shower games simple with one silly game called “Guess the Sweet Mess.”
For the game, ten diapers were numbered and filled with different melted candy bars. Guests had to look at each diaper and guess which candy bar was inside.
It was a funny icebreaker and an easy way to get everyone talking and laughing.
If you play this baby shower game at your own party, be sure to number the diapers and make an answer key ahead of time so you can easily keep track of each candy bar.
Tips for Decorating a Baby Shower at a Restaurant or Venue
Hosting a baby shower at a restaurant or event venue can make the day much easier, especially when you don’t have to worry about preparing all of the food yourself.
There are a few extra things to plan for when you are bringing your own shower decorations into another space.
Ask about setup time. Find out exactly when you can get into the room so you know how much time you will have to decorate before guests arrive.
Check the candle policy. If you plan to use candles, ask whether the venue allows an open flame or if you will need to use battery-operated candles instead.
Ask what’s included. Find out which dishes, glasses, flatware, linens, or other supplies the venue provides before packing your own.
Pack your decorations by area. Keep everything for the dining table together, everything for the dessert table together, and so on. It makes unpacking and decorating much faster.
Prep your greenery and flowers ahead of time. Trim eucalyptus and do as much floral prep as possible before arriving at the venue.
Have a plan for cleanup. Recruit a friend or family member to help pack everything at the end of the shower. Cleanup always seems to happen while you are also trying to say goodbye to guests!
