So, without any further to do, let’s get hopping!
Easy ways to decorate for the Fourth of July
I always love to decorate the She-shed with bunting, flags, and a few fun red items I have collected from estate sales, including my sweet fire engine truck.
You can see more of my sweet she shed here.
Tea Dye some flags for a vintage touch
Dying fabric with tea is a fun and easy way to add a unique touch to any project. The first step is to brew a pot of strongly-flavored tea. Once the tea is brewed, use it to soak the fabric in a bowl. The longer the fabric is left in the tea, the deeper the color will be. After dying the fabric, it can be rinsed in cold water and allowed to air dry.
This simple technique can create an infinite number of different colors and shades, depending on the type of tea used. So whether you’re looking for a subtle change or a bold statement, dying fabric with tea is a great way to get creative. For example, you can see in the third image how it changes the flag’s look ever so slightly. I used your basic Lipton black tea and only soaked my flags for about 3 minutes.
One of my easiest DIY Fourth of July Decorations
You can create a simple wreath as I did on the shed to hang on your door or your shed.
I started with a plain green wreath and then added strips of fabric.
I cut strips of burlap and two colors of gingham check fabric. Each strip was 1-2″ wide x 7″ long and I tied the strips around the wreath. You can also use ribbon. However, I wanted the raw edges, so I went with fabric.
Add some stars and stripes for an easy DIY Fourth of July decorations
You can find all sorts of patriotic-themed decorations at your local stores, or you can DIY it with some craft supplies as I did.
I love adding in small patriotic touches, and it works very well in my home due to all the blue and white decor I have. These sweet stuffed stars from @cindyjaegerdesigns add a fun element to my Fourth of July decorating. Aren’t they adorable?
And they are reversible.
With creativity, you can easily add some American pride to your home this Fourth of July.
Change out your throw pillows for another easy Fourth of July decoration
One of the easiest ways to decorate your home for the holiday is to switch out your throw pillows. For the Fourth of July, you can find pillows with patriotic designs or even red, white, and blue ones. By simply changing out your throw pillows, you can easily give your home a festive makeover that will get you into the holiday spirit.
I decided to make a throw pillow this week, and here is what I came up with. I happened to have all of the supplies in my craft room.
Start with a basic off-white canvas pillow cover and a few pieces of all-American fabric like below.
Print out a large star on the computer. These are easy to find on google. I adjusted the star into two different sizes, then cut out the stars in the fabrics and placed them where I wanted them on the pillow front.
Using some fabric adhesive iron-on tape, I attached the stars to the pillowcase.
Next, I hand-sewed the stars onto the pillow with an embroidery needle and thread.
You can choose different embroidery thread colors for each star if you like. I wanted raw edges on my fabric, so I did not turn the edges over. This is the look I was going for.
Or you may l like some of these already made pillows.
Display some flags in an old vintage floral frog.
I have a collection of milk glass vases, and one of my favorite things to do is to use them for the Fourth of July with my mini tea-dyed flags. I love how they reflect in the mirror and make a simple statement.
Plan a picnic to celebrate the Fourth of July with your friends and family.
What better way to celebrate July 4 than by throwing a picnic? Just imagine a beautiful summer day, a table laden with delicious food, and your closest friends and family gathered together to enjoy it all. And of course, no picnic would be complete without some patriotic decorations! Red, white, and blue napkins, plates, and cups will get everyone in the spirit, while a patriotic tablecloth will add a touch of class. Don’t forget to include some fourth of July-themed games like water Balloon toss or frisbee – they’ll help keep the fun going all day long! Oh, and you may just want to read my blog post on how o make these amazing outdoor garden lights. They create the perfect lighting for an outdoor evening picnic.
Plan to have some fun snacks to nibble on.
Bake a cake to celebrate the big day, or make a cake
It doesn’t have to be real, LOL!!!! It’s all about the look, and I want it to last. However, my guests may not be too happy when they discover this trick I pulled on them.
Not to worry, I made sure to make a real cake too! And I promise to serve this warm Sherry cake with berries and ice cream. This is one of my favorite cakes and so easy! give it a try and let me know what you think.
I hope by now you are enjoying these amazing blog posts with all of their Fourth of July inspiration.
