Sunday Sharing from the She Shed Volume 33

Happy Sunday, friends!

It has been a busy two weeks since I last wrote to you. I’m just now finding a moment at 9:00 p.m. to send this out.

Things are finally settling down after the fires, and the community is coming together to support those who have lost so much.

After church today, we took a drive up the street and saw the devastation firsthand. It was heartbreaking to witness the destruction and the homes that were lost—I couldn’t hold back the tears.

It’s difficult to comprehend how the fire moved through the area. On one side of the street, every house was gone, while the homes on the other side remained untouched.

We will continue to do whatever we can to bring a little light to those affected, one day at a time.

A burned-out car sits amid the charred remains of a destroyed landscape, surrounded by twisted metal and debris. The scene, reminiscent of a chaotic Volume 33 out of an intense series, shows devastation likely caused by a fire, with trees and structures heavily damaged in the background.

Happier Days

On a brighter note, we had these three with us for the weekend!

We spent the day at Balboa Island, riding the Ferris wheel, bouncing on the trampoline, and indulging in some delicious treats—a Balboa Bar, frozen bananas, and fried Oreos! Yum!

Then home for a hot jacuzzi dip in the rain!

A smiling young girl in a black jacket holds a dessert on a stick, covered in chocolate and colorful sprinkles, on a busy street. The background features food stalls and a menu board.
A young girl stands smiling, holding a tray of food with a fork. The tray contains several fried snacks drizzled with chocolate sauce. She is wearing a light blue jacket. There is a person partly visible on her right holding a water bottle.
A smiling child in a green hoodie holds a chocolate-covered treat on a stick, topped with nuts. They stand in front of a colorful food stand on a sidewalk, with shops visible in the background.
Three children sit in a hot tub under a pink umbrella, smiling at the camera. They are surrounded by rain, with a swimming pool and stone wall in the background. Black railings frame the foreground.

We also had the joy of hosting some dear friends for a fabulous dinner—and let me tell you, it was a feast to remember! (I promise, some delicious recipes are coming your way soon!) Entertaining is truly one of my favorite things to do, and there’s nothing better than gathering around the table with good food and great company.

Our menu featured a show-stopping Crown Pork Roast, flavorful Couscous with dates, pine nuts, and dried apricots, crispy and buttery Potatoes Anna, classic Green Beans Almondine, baked apples and, to top it all off—the most decadent cheesecake. Every bite was pure delight!

What is Happening at WM Design House

We’ve been busy refreshing the inside of the house! I added wallpaper in the dining room, up the stairwell, and in the downstairs powder room—and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s been years since I’ve had wallpaper, so this change feels fresh and exciting. Have you tried it? The transformation can be truly dramatic!

Elegant dining room with blue floral wallpaper, wooden table set for a Sunday Sharing. Blue glassware, white plates, and napkins complement a large floral centerpiece. A chandelier with warm lights hangs above, reflecting softly in the mirror that captures the open door's view.
Hallway with wooden flooring and white railing, featuring a blue patterned accent wall. Three round mirrors and decorative plates adorn the wall. A wooden cabinet with shelves and various items is visible in the corner.

I’ve also been busy refinishing furniture! I found a pair of metallic copper nightstands on the Facebook marketplace (which I love) and am transforming them with a beautiful distressed white finish for our guest bedroom.

I also had two tall shelving units sitting in the garage for a while, and after last week’s big garage cleanup, I decided it was time to give them a fresh coat of paint and bring them inside.

One found a home in the dining room, and the other now sits in the breakfast area near the kitchen. I’ve had so much fun styling them with my thriftstore treasures!

An orange distressed wooden chest with three closed drawers, each featuring a round, dark handle. The chest is set on a stone surface with a blurred background of a gray building and a window.
A vintage cupboard displays white ceramic pitchers, platters, and tureens. Wooden boxes and old books are also arranged on the shelves. The background features blue and white floral wallpaper, and a wicker basket with greenery sits on top.

We also celebrated three birthdays—our daughter Meghan turned 38, our oldest granddaughter turned 10, and our youngest grandson, Callum, turned two!

Ironically, Florida gifted them with 8 inches of snow to mark the occasion!
