Girls’ Weekend Getaway: Southern Charm at a Quaint Texas Airbnb

For years, I have belonged to a blogging mastermind group. We connect weekly on Zoom to share ideas, and offer support to help each other succeed in our blogging journeys.

These incredible women have become dear friends and I always look forward to our weekly chats. All in our sixties (except our sweet friend Amy!), we live all across the country.

I live in California, while one friend resides in Delaware. Meanwhile the rest of our group hails from the Midwest. Specifically Illinois, Missouri, and Texas.

This past May, we decided to meet for a creative blogging retreat. We laughed until we cried. We learned from one another. And enjoyed some amazing meals together.

The retreat was hosted by our talented friend Michele of Vintage Home Designs at her Airbnb in Rockwall, Texas.

So today, I want to share part of what made this retreat so special – Michele’s stunning Airbnb rental!

As an interior designer, Michele has a true gift for creating warm and inviting spaces.

Besides sharing details about Michele’s Airbnb listing, my friends are also recapping our retreat from their own perspectives! They will cover everything from packing tips for a girls’ retreat to gift ideas, hosting advice, and even stories from our road trip. You can find links to all their posts at the end of this article.

Now it is time get cozy and join me for a peek inside to see the thoughtful details of the gorgeous Texas Airbnb that made our stay so wonderful!

Location, Location, Location

Conveniently located in Rockwall, Texas, Michele’s vacation rental is just a 45 minute drive from Dallas and about 35 miles from the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.

Ohhh…and for my fellow HGTV fans, it is less than 2 hours from Waco and the famed Magnolia Market.

The property sleeps up to 6 people, and features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was perfect for our little blogging group!

Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, the house is less than a mile from downtown Rockwall, so you can walk to the local tea room or coffee shop.

We didn’t spend much time doing “touristy” things during our girls’ weekend getaway….we were busy working! But, it is worth noting, if you visit Rockwall there are plenty of things to do and places to see.

Downtown Rockwall Texas

Main Street located in the historic Downtown district is a popular destination. With streets lined with quaint boutique shops and amazing restaurants, it is almost guaranteed that you won’t walk away empty-handed. (Or with an empty stomach!)

The Harbor hosts more shops and eateries along with some of the most stunning Texas waterfront views!

And next time I visit Texas, you can bet I will be making a stop at the San Martino Winery and Vineyards.

Welcoming Touches: A Warm and Inviting Entry

Michele’s southern hospitality shone through from the very first moment we walked in the door of her Texas Airbnb!

Cozy porch with two chairs and a table.

A cozy porch with comfortable chairs, pillows, and blankets offered a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

Airbnb entryway

The inviting entrance featured a beautiful blue door, and the flowers in the surrounding beds were gorgeous– I wish I’d taken a picture! This listing photo from earlier this spring doesn’t do them justice.

When we walked in, the light was soft and pretty. Diffusers filled with essential oils made the rental smell fresh and clean.

And Michele even wrote us a sweet note, and left a bouquet of beautiful flowers to make us feel welcomed.

Cozy Cottage Living Room

Michele describes her Texas Airbnb as a Bohemian style cottage with an eclectic mix of furnishings and decor.

I would simply describe it in one word. Beautiful!

The living room was warm and welcoming, with soft, neutral colors that made us feel right at home.

The white brick gas fireplace decorated with a collection of antique mirrors really stood out as the focal point of the room. While it was quite hot during our girls’ weekend, I can imagine it being perfect for cozying up on a chilly night.

The vintage couch was incredibly comfy and great for curling up with a laptop to get some work done.

I also loved the macramé wall hanging and the rustic trunk that doubled as a coffee table. Both pieces gave the space a unique feel and added a touch of charm.

The Heart of the Home: A Kitchen Filled with Hospitality

A well-equipped kitchen is essential for a comfortable stay, and Michele’s thoughtful touches made ours truly wonderful.

Knowing that every guest has different needs, Michele went the extra mile by asking about any dietary restrictions or preferences beforehand.

This small detail speaks volumes about her commitment to creating a welcoming environment.

The formal dining area was perfect for our gatherings and learning sessions. We enjoyed some truly amazing meals there, with plenty of great conversations and laughter.

We were also greeted by a beautiful beverage station. A variety of tea bags and all the necessary supplies for the coffee machine – creamer pods, sugar, and artificial sweeteners – were neatly arranged, ensuring everyone could enjoy their favorite morning brew.

Finding silverware was simple – they were creatively displayed in a charming flower pot on a tiered tray, adding an unexpected touch of whimsy.

It is clear that Michele put a lot of thought into every little detail to make this space both beautiful and practical. Almost every room had fresh flowers, adding a lovely fragrance throughout the house.

Dreamy Retreat: The Bedrooms at Michele’s Texas Airbnb

The house has a king bed in the master bedroom, with a queen bed and full size in the other two bedrooms.

This cozy bedroom featured a comfortable queen-sized bed with a rustic wooden headboard. The soft, blue-gray walls created a calming atmosphere, perfect for a restful night’s sleep.

The bed was made with layers of plush pillows and a beautiful patterned quilt, and two bedside tables with matching decorative lamps, provided extra lighting and ambiance.

The other two bedrooms each had their own unique themes. The first featured a more feminine details with a soft floral motif throughout the space.

Meanwhile the bedroom featuring the King bed had a more masculine feel with gray tones and a beautiful dark gray headboard. Matching nightstands and unique details like reclaimed shutters hung as wall art added to the charm of the room.

Spa-Worthy Bathrooms

Michele’s dedication to pampering her guests extended to the beautiful bathrooms. Stepping inside was like stepping into a luxurious spa retreat.

Both bathrooms had a bath/shower combination and were stocked with everything we needed for our stay.

Small soaps, loofah sponges, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner were readily available, eliminating the need for us to pack extra essentials.

Jar on the bathroom filled with small toiletries.

Glass jars filled with fragrant bath salts were ready and waiting, too!, There offered a chance to unwind after a long day of brainstorming blog ideas.

Make up remover towels in a jar for a guest bathroom.

For those who prefer a quick makeup refresh, Michele had a thoughtful touch – small washcloths dedicated for makeup removal alongside convenient packets of disposable makeup remover.

But the pampering didn’t stop there! We enjoyed soft, luxurious towels after a refreshing shower. And by the sink, Michele placed a beautiful bottle of hand soap, accompanied by perfectly rolled towels.

Michele’s unique creativity was clear even in the bathrooms! She had a vintage rake hanging on the wall, which was both a fun conversation starter and a great example of how she mixes practicality with a touch of whimsy.
