DIY Feather Ornaments

  • 1 Glue Gun
  • 1 pair of scissors

Materials

  • * Clear plastic or glass Christmas ornaments
  • * Small dried gourds
  • * Black spray paint
  • * Assorted small feathers
  • * 3/8–1" wide velvet ribbon

Instructions

How to Make Feather Ornaments

    Round Ornament

    • * Gather and clean feathers; trim to about 1.5" long.
    • * Remove the metal top from a clear ornament.
    • * Starting at the bottom, hot glue feathers in a circular pattern.
    • * Overlap each layer slightly as you work toward the top.
    • * Add smaller peacock feathers with eye patterns near the top if desired.
    • * Replace the ornament cap (paint gold if you like).
    • * Tie velvet ribbon or twine at the top for hanging.

    Pear Ornament

    • * Use a small pear-shaped gourd as your base.
    • * Spray paint the gourd black if using dark feathers.
    • * Layer feathers around the gourd as you did with the round ornament.
    • * Leave the downy feathers near the neck untrimmed for a natural look.
    • * Add a small velvet bow or ribbon to hang the ornament.
