First, I cut off approx. 2″ from the bottom of a few cones to give a variety of heights to my garden of mushrooms.
Add a bit of foil around the top part of the cone if you do not want the top of the stem to be too skinny. I only did this on two of my mushrooms.
You can use sheet moss that is man-made, or I prefer to use natural sheet moss that comes in pieces in a bag. This moss is peeled right off of the trees.
Hot glue the moss onto the cone to cover the mushroom’s stem.
Cut a piece of sheet moss the same size as the bottom of the mushroom cap.
Cut a hole in the center so the cone can be glued to the top part of the cap.
Using a dab of glue (hot glue), attach the mushroom cap to the stem.
Hot glue moss onto the entire cap of the mushroom.
Add some lichen for an added touch of character to your mushroom cap.
